Adding console with rear audio controls??

Hey guys,

I have a '04 1500 silverado and my friend has a 2500HD crew cab. His truck came with a rear entertainment option where in the back it has the spot at the rear of the center console that you can plug in headphones and listen to seperate audio sources. Does anybody know if I can add this and what parts would it take? It would really be handy on long trips and such.

I believe you need the full Bose system. The rear ph-jacks actually cut out the rear speakers when you plug them in. I had mine apart down to the amp and if you unplug the cable to the rear controls the whole thing goes dead.

man that sucks it sounds like it would be an awesome addition.....anyone have some ideas on making this work?

It will work. I ordered the parts directly from GM. Pricey, but the way it has to be. I ordered the rear audio unit, trim piece, and the wiring harness for around $450. It should be just plug and play. I talked to Jason at Jp customs about it and he said if you did buy the harness, you could just tap all the wires on the rear audio unit to the main harness on the back of the radio. But, with my gm harness it should just be plug and play.

The C3 came with this feature and it doesn't have the Bose. You could just get the radio or you could upgrade the whole console by getting a nice one out of a wrecked Denali.

I did this in my 2000 Reg Cab, but the captains and center console out of a suburban. I would LOVE to have the front captains and center console out of a Denali. The hard part is finding it! It would also have to be 2003+ due to the way the passenger side airbag is weight sensitive.
