I recently had my 2017 Silverado 5.3 engine rebuilt with a DOD delete kit. The shop did the physical delete, but did not complete the tune of DOD delete. My question is would that cause damage to my catalytic converter if I drove it?

They usually don't run right in the first place. If all the DoD parts were removed it's probably going to run on 4 cylinders only until you tune out the DoD and all the trouble codes along with it.

The reason why I'm asking this is that they released my truck to me thinking that all of the delete was complete but it wasn't after a 100 miles I was throwing cat codes and the engine was noticeably shifting at a coast.

I'd like to know how they deleted it.

I already know they make a non DoD camshaft replacement and then you use 16 standard lifters. But if the valley plate with the DoD brain was removed, it wouldn't run at all. So maybe they left that in place.

The computer still requires a tune to turn off the DoD and to stop it from evening trying to enable it. If you're getting codes P0420 and P0430 those seem odd with just a DoD delete.

The cam, lifters and valley plate where all replaced and the truck ran, but when it shifted from v8 to v4 I would have no power even with my foot on the gas. So my thought was that it was sending unburnt fuel through and that’s what damaged my cat. What are your thoughts?
The reason is I need to make the shop pay for a new cat for there mistake of not doing the tune.

Wow, what a mess, the AFM also turns off the injectors, but you need to get a HPTuner system (or something) and learn how to use it (alot of YouTube videos are there) cause you will need it!
