2004 Escalade Brake Light Switch Issue

I changed the brake light switch on my 2004 escalade (adjustable pedals) but lights dont come on, its the correct switch and the bulbs are fine because I can run a wire from the white wire to the green wire and get the lights to come on, just cant get the switch to work, what  am I missing, I followed the videos exactly and nothing happens
