Disable DRL & Speed Limit on '99' Classic Sierra

I have a 1999 "Classic Sierra" Which from what I can tell is a 1998 Sierra 1500 made in 1999. I know on the body style after mine you can disable the DRL's by hitting the Dome Override 4 times, but I can't find anything on disableing them on my truck.

For me an even better solution than doing away with them is there a way to reprog the PCM, or BCM, whichever controls that specific function to activate the park lights rather than the low beam light with the ignition.

I also want to remove the 99MPH govenor on my truck. I know some f-body cars(Camero and Firebird) you could get full potential from removing a chip in the PCM. Can something similar be done on my truck or do I have to get an aftermarket chip or get someone to reprog the PCM.

Thanks

Hello & Welcome to the board. As far as turning off the DRL's on your 98/99 (old body style) there are 2 ways:

1. Remove the fuse

2. Press in your emergency brake one click (the ebrake disables them, so pushing it in one click will turn them off, shouldn't apply any brakes, but will turn on the brake! light on your dash.

As far as the speed limiter, I don't know how to adjust it and also wouldn't suggest doing so. Its a truck, not a camaro or firebird, and should not be doing 100+

I wish everybody took this to heart. If they were made to do more Chevy would have put it higher.

Halon.........Just pull off the cover on your interior fuse center.

The DRLs have a seperate fuse. Just pull it out. I think it is # 17

But it will be labeled DRL/fog. If you have fogs this will also

disable them. Then just pull the bulbs out..........geo

First off, your 99 classic doesn't have a PCM or BCM.

Ther is no chip that can be removed from the ECM of any GM vehicle in order to defeat the MPH limiter. You can however program it out with a Hypertech or similar unit.
