I saw a NICE 22500HD today in a parking lot. I stopped & checked out the tires.

Factory rims

NO lift at all

285/75/16 BFG Mud terrains

I guess it's safe to make the assumption that it will work on mine?

I may go buy me a set soon. Those street tires on my ride just dont fit a 4x4..lol

sure I have terra grapplers on mine. Not as aggressive as the muds but the same size.

Correct me if I'm wrong:

Isnt a 285/75/16 equal to a 32x11.50/16?

If so, the standard 32x11.50 is nearly $40 cheaper at some places than the 285's...

32.83 x 11.20 x 16

I think the load ratings are different too

and some 32 's are not even at 32" (31.65 or so )

265's are basicaly 32x11.5's

285's are basicaly 33x11.5's

305's are basicaly 33x12.5

315's are basicaly 35x12.5's

and these are typically 16" tires too.

Aren't the 32x11.5's your looking at 15"?

I'vebeen looking to upgade, but I've been told the rim width will only accept a 245.

Have the larger tire been wearing flat on the stock rims?

Please let me know! I want to upgrade the tire but not the wheels!!

Thanks All...

Thats the setup I'm running. BFG MT 285/75/16 on my 2002 2500hd cc 4x4 shortbed with 2" of lift via torsion bars on the driver side and 1.5" on the passenger side. I needed an alignment, but it was cheap when I got the tires put on. I have absolutely no rubbing at all after I trimmed about half an inch off the air d**n. They don't even rub the fender skirts. I run mine at 45psi front, and 40 back and they are wearing very even. They hum a little, but not nearly as bad as I though. Sweet tires, and they chew their way through anything.

I hear ya. It makes it seem more like a truck with the 285's. I look at my buddies with the 245's and it looks like it has bicycle wheels on it!

Here's the other two I took today. I normally don't lube up the tires too often, but they were looking harsh. You have to use a spray on since there are so many lugz.
