not downshifting right!!!

Hi guys

I've got a 1993 s-10 with the vortec (W code) motor, and the electronically controled tranny (4L60-E). My problem is that when I slow to around 10 or 15 mph (say, to turn onto another street), the trans will not downshift into 1st gear like it should, even at full throttle. This ends up bogging down the motor...

I am thinking my problem might be the throttle position sensor (maybe it's not sensing large enough amounts of throttle to tell the trans to shift). Other than this shift problem, the truck runs fine.

Thanks in advance for your help :jester:

If it was the TPS the motor wouldn't work right either, so you might want to rule that out, but you did say that the motor bogs down, but I could be wrong.

PROBLEM SOLVED

A plastic sleeve on the end of my Cruise Control cable was binding up into the cable bracket and preventing me from reaching WOT. I could only get it up to approx. 75% , hence the lack of downshifting. Now she works great!!!

thanks for your reply Cool ZR2
