dual exhaust

Well, your best bet would be to go with a dual in/dual out, in my own opinion. It's cheaper, easier, and it sounds d**n good, depending on whatever muffler you want. True dual does sound great, but just be ware, it's not always your best friend. The proper way to do true dual is w/ a balance pipe, in example, an X or H pipe. These balance out the exhaust pulses from each cylinder bank, producing a smoother, deeper, more aggressive rumble. It basically makes your exhaust sound like it should. This is a great set-up, but if you're looking for more of a cost effective way, a single di/do muffler is the better way to go.

Now about mufflers: It's all preference. Flowmasters sound awesome on almost all newer trucks, mainly GM's  but they aren't always your best bet. Most of the people I've seen with 6.0's in my area have 70 series, or the 50 series Big Block muffler, and they sound great! At cruise, they produce a sweet, deep mellow rumble, accleration it's slightly more more mellow, but with a nice aggressive rumble. People say that 6.0 engines drone, but I have yet to hear of one drone (I've only ridden in the cab of two though). The bad ones would be with 40 series or possibly even a 50 series. If you want balls out loud, the origonal 40 series or a 14" Magnaflow is the way to go. If you tow a trailer, you're not going to like this set-up. The drone would be horrible, seeing how the sound waves bounce off of the trailer. Loud is a great thing for some people, but it's not always your best bet.

Pipe sizes: Eh, don't go any bigger than 2.5" I personally would just go with 2.25" on most any small block, unless it's high performance. 2/25" will retain more of the low end than 2.5", not a lot, but it'll help. 3" is ust way the hell too big for a small block. Yes, you DO gain torque off of exhausts, but you lose the torque curve down low, although you gain it back up top.

I would say an ideal true dual set-up would be an x pipe, dual Flowmaster, Spin Tech, or Magnaflow mufflers, or a di/do with either of those three mufflers. Spin Tech is actually the one I'd most reccomend, they sound GOD FREAKIN AWESOME on most trucks, and they really have there shizzit together when it comes to interior resonance. Here's a sound clip of my truck though, 00 7/4 ltr 454, K&N intake and a Jet chip. 3" single side exit. http://web.utk.edu/~deldridg/LikeaRock/BigRedClip.mp3

Ho[e you like, and I hope I helped ya out some!
