Transmission Slippage

Just curious if anyone is having any problems from their transmission? When I put the trans in drive from park and give the gas there is a hesitation then it catches. It also does it sometimes at a stop light. This does not happen all of the time. The truck has 10K on it and hasn't been run hard. Today my information system says "Service 4X4" and non of the lights are lit up on the Atuo 4X4, 2WD, 2H or 2L buttons. Hope this is not a bad sign.

Thanks

The "Service 4x4" light means your switch needs to be replaced. Common problem. Covered under warranty :P

I had the same problem on my '01 (minus the service 4x4 light). The dealer reprogrammed the tranny and it's been fine since...

However, if you are getting a 4x4 light, I wonder if you don't have something wrong in your Transfer Case.

Mine does the same thing, they looked at it and didnt find anything. Know exactly what you mean about the stoplight slip. I wonder if its the rear end?

service 4x4 light means there is something wrong with either

the encoder motor, t-case computer, switch, front axle actuator.

or all kinds of computer and wiring problems.

the switch is a know problem for 99-02 k trucks

03 - up has a new style switch and they don;t fail like the older ones.

03's have a fix for a new sensor in the encoder motor along with reprogramming

i have not seen or heard anything about the 04's yet as far as 4wd goes

i can't see te 04's having the same problem in the encoder motor but anything

is possible.

Hey all I am New here, But I have an 01 2500 HD 6.0 and going from 1st gear to 2nd, it makes almost a metal to metal sound until it goes into 2nd gear. No problems just a wierd sound. I bought the truck used 2 weeks ago. The dealer said it was normal operation and said something about the yoke. I took out the Extended warrany.....is there something wrong or is everthing ok?

I had the exact same problem on my 01 Tahoe but it only occurred a few times. The dealer updated the program under warranty and I have not experienced it since. It sort of felt like the 2nd gear start feature* but then it realized the shift lever was in OD and not in 2nd so then quickly shifted down to 1st. It seemed to do it the most on take off right after a rather quick full stop.

*At the time I did not know our trucks would always start in 2nd from a stop if the shift lever was left in 2
