Power Door Lock Help Needed

The power lock solenoid/moter on the passenger door of my NBS 99 extended cab 1500 Silverado is weak. It works half assed when you use it. When I use it once or twice in a few minutes it works but is weak. If I cycle it 4 - 5 time I can hear it struggle and can feel it having a hard time to the point that it basically dies. Let it sit a while and it will work for a couple cycles. I had the door panel off and with repeated cycling it works the first couple times and eventually goes to nothing.

Bottom line is I think it needs to be replaced. I hate working inside door panels as I have big hands and tend to bleed a lot whenever I have to. Can someone give me advice on how to remove and replace the solenoid/motor. I spent about an hour this evening looking at it and feeling around and have no idea how to do it.

Is the solenoid/motor a seperate piece? How does it come out. etc?

BTW, the "rod slide" mechanism is freshly greased and that is NOT the problem. It moves very freely when locking manually.

Thanks in advance.

It's really not too difficult to replace. There are a couple rivets to drill out.

Unhook it from the rod and disconnect the plug.

Reverse steps to reinstall. I would suggest using rivets again, have had bad luck with small nuts and bolts.

I too, have big hands and the new style trucks have a decent amount of room for this job.

Hope this helps.
