Transmission issues

I never suspected that issues would happen just out of warranty on my truck. However, I did just have the slip yoke replaced under warranty. Here's the situation:

 

Yesterday after coming home from work I stopped by a friend's house for a visit. As I went to come home, the Service Engine Soon light came on and I noted what felt like slippage in the tranny, kind of like taking of in 2nd gear. It didn't change since this morning as I headed to work so I called OnStar and had them run a diagnostic for me, said there was a problem with the transmission and I had to take it into a dealer within 7 days. Nothing more.

 

On the freeway, the truck never hit OD and if I stepped on it, it didn't respond at all. I imagine this is sort of like some "protect mode" for the tranny. Anyone have this issue before? It's a 2002 GMC Sierra SLT. Calling the dealer this morning to try and work a deal as they just replaced the slip yoke a week or so ago. Bumming me out if I have to pay just out of warranty.

Sounds like whoever installed the new yoke screwed up the installation and realigned your driveshaft wrong, therefore messing up the operating angles. Your driveshaft can only work correctly with certain angles. If done wrong, it could cause a jump in the transmission. I'd tell the service manager it was installed wrong, and they should fix it with no problem. Just be firm with them. They'll admit it.

Damned circuits. I am at the dealership now, supposedly it's the 1/2 shift circuit or something electrical, going to cost me $178 to get out of here, bastards. Not that big of a deal, but they claim that the issue could not have happened due to the slip yoke's association with the tranny, whatever. money out the door.
