Anyone here work at a quick lube place like Jiffy Lube, or a chain car parts store like Car Quest, Auto Zone, etc...? What did your employer like/want in an employee? What was applying like? What was the work like? Thanks for any help. I need money, and I figure I have a shot at working at one of these places considering the last time I went into Advance for a carb rebuild kit, the parts counter people had no clue what a carburetor was or why it might need to be rebuilt.

I worked for a Jiffy-Lube type place many moons ago. We did services and tune-ups on the fly....Mostly fleet maintenance, but we would come to your house and change your oil.

Only things that they wanted from me was the ability to turn a wrench, and I had to read a little book (took about 3 hours) and pass a test on it....I believe that I was then qualified through...N.A.I.L. (National Association of Independant Lubricators)....I still laugh at that one...I was a certified "lubricator".

You don't really have to have anything going in, just a little knowledge. You shouldn't have any problems.

 ....I just can't think of anything snappy to say about that...LMAO

Don't you hate it when you HAVE to say something about something but you know you shouldn't cuz it'll just cause a bunch of sheeite?????

From what I've seen around here the chain Auto parts stores will hire anyone. It would be good to see someone with actual automotive knowledge working there for once. MOST of them couldn't tell you anything about any of it if it's not in the computer. Good luck.

Never personaly worked at a quick lube place before, but my friend work at one for about 1 year. He would get real bad burns on his arms from trying to get to the oil filter, and I mean bad burns. If your tuff go for it.
