New Mid-Sized GM Truck

The local television station, out of Shreveport, LA, mentioned the local plant will build a new mid-sized truck for 2003.  I didn't catch the name and did not see any "new" 2003 info on the GM website.  Just wondering about it?

For some reason, GM is still playing their cards close to the chest on this.  I heard it will be called the Colorado, and will have 1 or 2 variations on the Vortec Inline 6, like what's in the Envoy, Trailblazer and Bravada.

BTW, went to the Detroit Auto Show last night, and would you believe it, nothing about the new truck whatsoever that I could find?!  I thought for sure they would have one to see, if not touch.

That's about all I know now.

2004 Colorado (Compact Truck)

The long-awaited replacement for the ancient S-10 is finally on its way. Spotted during hot-weather testing in the desert, this crew cab version shows that the new truck, likely to be renamed the Colorado, will wear design cues borrowed from the new TrailBlazer SUV. Engine choices are likely to be four-, five- and six-cylinder versions of the 4.2-liter Vortec inline six that debuted in the TrailBlazer. It looks to be significantly larger than the previous truck, a good sign, considering that the last crew cab we tested had miserable rear-seat accommodations.
