Auto Lock Disable?

My father has a 2004 Chey Silv 3500, LS DuraMax/Allison. The Auto Lock feature is driving him nuts as he uses it to move boats around a marina and each time they put the d**n thing in gear they are locked in. Can this be overridden or disabled? He does not have the "enhanced DIC" if that makes any difference.

I have the DIC and can override it there or set it however I want it to work. He should be able to also change the settings without the DIC. The procedure should be in the owner's manual.
