99 & newer 1500 p/u & 2001 & newer Suburban/Tahoe

Has anyone else had any problems with the hot/cold ajustment staying in the hot mode(blowing hot air out of the ducts). This happens only about 15% of the time but when it does stick in the "hot" mode there is no ryme or reason on how to get it to start blowing cool air again. This is a 2001 Suburban 4X4 LT.

 

Anyone else experience this and have any ideas of what could be wrong & where to begin??

Yes...I have noticed this many times. Seems like it only happens when I leave it in MAX hot for a while. Like it melted or got stuck somehow. After like 15 mins it gets cold again. Don't know why though.

I've had this problem on my '01 1500 xcab, it started at about 40,000 miles. It seems to go away if I restart the engine. Sometimes it's a real pain in the ass to stop just to change the temp.

just a thought...but it almost sounds like the evaporator is freezing up...is it really humid outside when you have this problem? Is the airflow through the condesor restricted(condesor dirty)?...R you caught in traffic or driving @ reduced speeds?..

Is the fan shroud intact or partly removed from a body lift?....

 

Or am I just missing something ...like the controls wont adjust...does it have interior climate control? the inside aspirater(temp sensor)may be going bad....

Just throwing out ideas

Thanks for the input. This has mostly happened when it is 30-35 deg. F outside driving 70 mph on the interstate/hwy. The vehicle is completlky stock(no lift kit) and there is no restriction in front of the radiator or condensor & there is no shroud damaged.

 

I personally think there is a mode control or sensor issue going on here but I was hoping to get some sort of conformation from others who have had this same issue.
