i was thinking why does chevy not offer the 6.0 liter engine in there 1500 series trucks. im sure there is alot of people who would go for it in the 1500 trucks instead of getting a 2500 which most people dont need a 2500. i did see that the 6.0 engine is in the new 1500hd crew cab so if they can put it in that why not the others. is there something that will not fight right or what. just a thought i was thinking about and though #### thats a good idea.

well if you use the 6.0 then you have to use a different trans.  Then something else has to change.

Its like a small ripple effect basically its not economical to gm

Actually the 6.0L is the only available motor in the 1500HD crewcab.  I believe the heavy duty tranny is standard...

Yes, Shaners, but the 1500HD is essentially a 8600gvw 2500.   I think GM has there reasons for not using the 6.0L in a 1/2ton, but I think they want to keep control on the market with Ford.

I don't keep up with the newer trucks, but I am curious as to which trannies are available with the 6.0...

Do they have an auto, if so which one?

I assume there is a six-speed available?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

The automatic is a 4L80e and the manual is a NV4500 (5-speed).
