Leaky Thermostat

Recommended Posts

Ok so i have this problem. I put a Hypertech Powerstat (180*) on my truck. I cant seem to keep this from leaking. The gasket was crap, so i bought some gasket maker and poured it to it, still developed a leak. Anyone have this problem or can give me some tips on how to stop the tiny leak? It doesnt leak alot, but enough to worry me. Thanks in advace!

They Hypertech is a MotoRad. Canadian firm.

Here's picture of several during my testing to see what sized hole worked best in the flange.

Mine is big block and double poppet (that additional disc on tail end). Lower right is single poppet, or normal..older style.

Take a look at the gasket. It's got a grove and that grove fits around the flange. The intake manifold seat and thermostat housing clamps onto this gasket. NO RTV is needed

Thanks for the replys, but my 5.3 has the thermo that is not removable from the housing. Anyone with a NBS 5.3 have any thoughts?
