Air intake system

Looking at buying an intake system.

I have narrowed it down to the Air Force 1 or the AEM Brute Force system.

Thoughts on either system??

Where is the cheapest place to get one?

Thanks.

I have the AEM and couldn't be happier. Noticed immediate improvement in throttle response and am getting better mpg. The install was extremely simple and I would definitely recommend it.

I have the Brute Force intake. Very noticable improvement. A question about it though, since I bought it slightly used off a totaled truck: Are you supposed to totally remove the flat metal plate that the stock box bolted to? I did, and that left a huge opening right under the filter. Or is the AEM metal shroud supposed to bolt to the flat metal stock piece?

I purchased a cheap kit from eBay for about $40. Comes with a filter and a three-sided assembly that replaces the airbox. I'm not sure if it really helped that much, but it looks cool and it did not cost me an arm and leg. Throttle response might have improved. I have yet to try and clean and re-oil the filter (it is due), but I figure if it falls apart I will purchase a K&N for another $40 and only have $80 tied up altogether.

I don't really subscribe to the thought that the high-dollar kits make much difference. Maybe at WOT there is a performance gain, but with everyday driving it is unlikely that you will notice a difference. Just my opinion and to note, I was very close to purchasing one the expenisve kits when I ran across the cheapo kit on eBay.

Char,

The opening at the bottom is supposed to be there. That is where a majority of the cold air comes from. I was a little skeptical at first of that as well as I live in FL and we get some very heavy rains here. No water gets into the filter element though.

Ryan, I bought mine for 250 from a local speed shop here in Orlando. The shop is called American Motorsports, and the guy really took care of me. I'm going to be going back there when I get my 2" lowering shackles for the rear.
