First new pickup

Finally did it. Bought my first new vehicle and pickup. Had a 92 S10 Blazer and I still have my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I need to sell.

Not sure how I ended up with this, as I went to the dealer looking for a used Cummins with a stick. After looking at interest rates, payments, etc I concluded that I was better off buying a new truck. So, I did it.

$400 a month but o well.

Anyways, its an 04 GMC Sierra 1500, extra cab, short box, 4x4, 5.3, Z71, buckets, Bose stereo with 6 disc changer, fender flares, posi, 3.73s, etc

Really like it so far, except I really wish it was a manual.

I am pretty impressed it can chirp the tires at 40 MPH.

Went with 2.9% GMAC financing.

Anyways, anyone got some opinions on how long I should wait before I switch to synthetic oil?

Definitely too quiet for my taste, I think I'm going to go for 40 series Flowmaster with dual exit out the back. Not sure what else I should do. Probably a K&N FIPK. Hear a lot of good things about the Wester ECU, but I can get the power programmers pretty cheap. Also, thinkin about goin with some American racing wheels. Maybe BFGs or Coopers.

Have pictures but can't figure out how you attach on this site.

Congrats on your new truck! Sounds just like mine... You can switch over to synthetic whenever you want, you will not do damage anything that some false rumors about synthetics state. Deffinetly check out Magnaflow cat-backs before you buy flowmaster, I have the 3" single on my truck and I love it. To post pics you have to have the pics already on a site. you should just post your truck on Car Domain, just make sure you have them saved as jpeg files to load onto the pages. Good luck with your new truck and keep us posted on your mods.

Congrats !!!!!!!!

I too pulled the trigger on a new 04 Chevy!

I wanted a GMC cuz of the AV look on the Chevy but couldn't find one priced

below $37k.

The killer rebates, interest rates, and killer trade value for my 01 2500 so I

had to do it also.

I HAD to have a new one !....................geo

I agree on the Rebate and trade allowance thing...I just picked up (3-4 weeks ago) a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax CC/LB 4X4. I traded my 2002 Sierra 8.1L CC/LB 4X4 and my payment only went up $24.00 per month. I am saving over $100 a month in fuel bills because of the lower price of Diesel and the 50% increase in fuel mileage. From what I am told it will only get better when the Duramax gets a little looser after breaking in!!!

It would have cost me money NOT to do this deal...when is the last time that happened???

First of all Congrats on the new truck...

I would look at Magnaflow or Gibson for Exhaust. I have had both on trucks in the past and currently have a Magnaflow on my 2003 Silverado SS.

Magnaflow is louder than the Gibson. It depends upon what you like...I wanted loud on the SS, but I had a Gibson on my 2002 Sierra I recently traded because it was my work truck and I spent most of the day in it.

As far as the computer goes, call Bryan at PCMFORLESS who is a supporting vendor on this site. He tuned my SS and I am very happy with it. He is much more resonably priced than some of the others out there, but very good to deal with.

As far as the intake, everyone (almost) on the SilveradoSS.com site used Volant. They install nice and have a plastic housing that is enclosed from the engine compartment to keep the intake air cooler. It is about a half hour to 45 min. install.

Gook Luck!!!

Anyone have any suggestions on a nice 16x8" rim?

Was thinkin about the Eagle 621s, which a 5 spoke rim. But local tire shop wants $160 a piece.

Was also thinkin about the just the good old modular 058 style wheel. Not sure how they would look on my truck though.

I have the American Racing Venturas on my Jeep, but I wouldn't mind trying something else.

Any other suggestions.

Congrats on the new ride! My neighbor just got the exact same truck as yours, except for his is dark blue, with chrome 20 rims. Sweet!
