TPS BAD?

Hey guy's I tried to look up anything I could before asking this question,but I couldn't find the info I needed.

First my SES light has come on and I had a friend check it with his Diablo,and according to it,I have to low of voltage at the TPS.

So I put the Volt meter to just the ECM side of the wiring(disconnected plug first)and check for a good ground,then the 5 volt reference signal which was also good,then I made sure that there wasn't any continuity between any combo of the three.

Next I removed the sensor and hooked up the volt meter again,and slowly rotated the inside portion of the sensor as if it was still hooked up to the throttlebody.

At wide open throttle I get 4.95 volts(which seems standard)and at Idle I get sometimes 0 and other times .39 to .42(which also seems ok.

I still suspect the sensor though it should never go to 0 should it?

When I install the new sensor is there anyway to set the minimum TPS voltage or are those days gone just install it and forget it.Also could this be why my idle stays at about 1000 RPM every now and then?

These electronics are quite a bit different than the ones on my GrandNational.

I had a code set and problem with high idle.Changed tps and problem solved

The only time a TPS should read 0.0 volts is if they key is off. As long as the 5v reference signal is making it to the TPS, and it still reads 0.0 at times, repalce the TPS.
