I need a $10 throwout bearing for my clutch, but since labor(around $300  ) is the same as taking it out(they have to take it out to fix it), I'm planning on just getting a new clutch.

In fact, I'm thinking of a sport clutch of racing design, by Sachs(they make F1 clutches, and the OEM BMW clutches, etc.) $569 :D

While I'm at it, I might go ahead and have them put in a lightweight flywheel, since they are aldreay there, labor can't be too much more(hopefully not more than $100 more :banghead: ). $350 :banghead: before core refund

before the flywheel core refund, I'm looking at between 1300-1500. :banghead: OUCH. :banghead: this will absolutely curb all my other mods plan for quite some time.

that's from a $10 part going out. Funny how mods build up.

but my car will rev and launch oh-so-much better. PRICELESS(well, mayeb not priceless

Dude....Do it yourself. Clutches are easy-peasy-japaneezy.

I did my first one when I was 16, all by myself....Well, I had a book.

I don't want to mess with the flywheel.

Plus, I doubt the car you did the clutch on was a extremely quiry BMW.

I mean, the cooling system has a bleed screw. a few air bubble's, and the car is boiling over in a few minutes, it's insane.

Flywheel is held on with bolts just like everything else.

It's only daunting because you havn't done it.

What do the guys in the BMW forums say?

I just completed the order eariler, here is what I got:

Went with a Stock Sachs replacement clutch at the advice of Bavarian Autosport.

With the 400 I saved, I went ahead and ordered a Performance chip for 225(Add 15HP, 11 peak).

I ordered the 12 lb Lightweight Flywheel from Metric Mechanic.

here is some of their test data:

These will transform my car's power/performance. can't WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, mods are expensive and that is why I don't have any! Maybe one day in the future when the d**n college students quit stealing my jobs I will get a powdercoated and polished T-Bird Turbo Coupe valve cover for my truck (they look MUCH nicer than stock), BF Goodrich All Terrains, American Racing or Stockton wheels (not sure on style yet), get around to replacing the rubber plugs on the trans with metal ones, etc... The good thing is I am pretty happy with the truck as is, it is a wonderful truck, but there are all these little things I want to do to it that start costing a whole lot of money that I don't have, so they have to wait.

well, I'm heading to the dyno after the new parts are installed and broken-in. how long is break-in on a new clutch and flywheel?

I plan on a dyno after these
