Recommended Posts

So tonight as I was leaving the club, when I started my Silvy up and the airbag light in the cluster came on and the message center siad service airbag soon. At the tnext redlight I came to, I shut it off and restarted it and it went off. Anyone else have this happen? Should I go ahead and take it to the dealer even though it the message went off, or should I just ignore it and consider some kind of glitch?

If its still under warranty, you might wanna take it in and see if it stored a code and have them take care of it,or make a note of it for you records

In a similar situation, I started my truck this week and the Airbag light came on/ DIC read "Service Airbag". After about five minutes I turned the truck off and did a restart, light did it's normal thing and went off. This is the second time this year this has happened. Has this happened to anybody else? Even better, has anybody got a fix?

only happened to me once.

if its under warranty have them look at it. that way if it happens again after the warranty is up you may be able to get them to cover it.

This just happened to me last weekend in my 04. It was about -16 overnight and when I started the truck in the morning the light came on along with the SERVICE AIRBAG message in the DIC. When my buddy sat in the passenger seat the auto passenger airbag indicator on the mirror remained off. I ran it for about 10 minutes and 5 miles into town to get some bait for ice fishing and when I restarted it the light and message went off. The next morning I started it up again and it was on, but went off again once it was warmed up. I had a friend of mine with access to ALLDATA look up the symptoms but he found nothing. I'm guessing that the cold just messed with the sensors etc., but since I'm not under warranty anymore I'm not going to just run it in. It hasn't happened again, but I'm parked in a garage overnight at home.
