I am new to the forum and was wondering if I should get an Air Intake for my truck. I just got my truck and have an 01 Silverado with the 5.3. I just put on a Corsa exhaust and was wondering if I should put on an air intake to go with the exhaust. Is it recommended to add an intake if you upgrade the exhaust? Also, if I do, what type of intake should I get I was thinking either a K&N FIPK or the Volant. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Definetely get a intake.. i like the volant better.. but other people will say homemade or K&N.. so just get whatever you like best and can afford...

Ditto to ridnlow...get as much air as possible to the engine now that you have opened up the exhaust. I have always had a K&N on my vehicles but there are so many out there. Just fit one to your budget and styling needs...

I love My volant...Noticeable in sound and performance! The stock box on my 8100 sounded like it was going to get sucked flat when the throttle was open!

Shop around...I got my volant for $250 to my door!

Thanks for the tips, I read somewhere that the AEM Brute Force intakes were pretty good also, anyone had any experiences with these. Thanks for all the input.

I have an AEM for my '03 with the 4.8. It really helped with throttle response and also got a slightly noticeable HP gain. It was super easy to install and took me only 30 minutes total including pulling the stock assembly out. I am very happy with it.
