Boy do I feel stupid

Yesterday I noticed what I thought to be tranny fluid under my truck on the driveway. It was dripping off of the tranny cooler lines above the front suspension cross-member. So, I took the truck in to the dealer today and dropped it off. Two hours later I get a call saying that my truck is ready. I though two hours was a short time to change a tranny fluid line. The service advisor tells me it's coolant leaking from the water pump gaskets. So, they pulled the pump, changed the gaskets and all's well. I guess I need to learn the difference between coolant and tranny fluid. :sigh: Oh well, all fixed now. I'm glad it was relatively minor and they didn't have my truck all day. :)

I can see how you mistook tranny fluid for the coolant... since they use the new Dexcool now (orange stuff).....

But still, a 2003 with a leaky water pump gasket? Hmmmm.... sounds fishy

Sounds like a potentail recall and that some bad assemblies got out.

Well, whatever they did it seems to have worked. No leaks today. I looked under the hood and it doesn't look too difficult. They definately removed the intake tube (from the air cleaner to the throttle body) and the fan shroud. I can tell because the dirt was wiped off where they were touched. But, the water pump doesn't seem as 'buried' as the old ones were. I'm sure the tech has done plenty of them 'cuz I doubt mine was the only one with a problem. All fixed now though. :sigh:
