Painting Dash Pieces???

I've seen a lot of pics where people have painted dash pieces to accent the truck. So, I did some looking for paint and saw some for 16 bucks a can, plus another 16 for the sealer. Is there a cheaper way either than paying a dollar an ounce??? Also, does someone have a link on how to do it.

I used plastic paint from a hobby store on mine, no chipping, no peeling, and a great smooth shine.

I went to NAPA and had them mix up a quart of the actual body color and sprayed it on my bumper caps. I'm also planning on going back and getting some more for the interior pieces. Don't wanna dig around in a hobbie stop for the right color that they might not even have.

I found a can of Victory red at Checker auto. How do you do the interior pieces, and for both do you use a primer and clear coat?

you can go through all that if you want, but if the paint has a high gloss you won't need the clear. I didn't primer mine either.

One thing I would recommend is that you go over to your NAPA store and get a bottle of "Plastic Adhesion Promoter", and a bottle of their "Econo Clean". The econo clear takes off anything you or the factory might have put on the piece (e.g. 303 protectant, Armorall (God Forbid!), wax, bugs etc.) and it adds a nice static cling to the piece. The adhesion promoter does exactly what it says. NAPA says that it really helps and I beleive em! Haven't noticed the slightest chip in the bumper caps, even the back ones. I've got some stuff for the truck coming ups so hopefully by the end of the month I'll have it done and some pics of it. I'm going to revamp my whole site to provide more detailed info on installs, how-to's, etc...
