'04 tail lights on '01

So I found a pair of the '04 tail lights to go on my 01. Each comes with a wiring harness that has a plug on one end and the bulb connectors on the other end. So here is my question, Is the swap really this easy? Do I only have to unplug the '01 wiring harness and plug in the '04 harness? Can it be that simple? Thanks in advance guys!

The sheet metal ware is the same, should bolt right in.

Some of the other GM gurus will have more insight.

Ive got 03 Tailights on my 99 and i didnt even use the harness.. i think the second bulb hole you have to do a little work to it but its not a big deal..

Actually, I agree with this. The daytime appearance of the taillight assembly for the '03s and up is nice. But, the illumination at night is lacking. The pre '03 lights are much much brighter. That is one of the first things I noticed with my '03 truck. I compared this illumination with other '03 and '04 models and confirmed this.

what could be better? you'll have the Best body style, and the best tail light style! I've got a 99', and i have to say it's my favorite body style since probably the 40's pick ups.

Still haven't had a response to the question I asked though.....

Does the '01 wiring harness just unplug from the truck's wiring and the '04 plug right in? A lot of the pictures I have seen on ebay show the wiring harness has a plug at the end of it and I am hoping I can unplug the '01 lights and plug the '04s in. Am I right?
