Video system install

Hi all,

Getting ready to install overhead monitor DVD system. Wanted to do the factory system, but two dealers I called said they aren't available. I will aftermarket. Questions: What size are the OEM screens. Is there any existing wiring in the headliner that will help me out? How are you guys attaching the monitor to the roof? Any more tips would be appreciated.

i might be wrong, but i have heard that there is NO harness there if you dont have it as a factory option. Also, there is a small "hump" under the headliner that aids in the mounting of the unit if it were factory equipped. I think this hump provides the necessary space to house the screws that are used to install the unit (otherwise they would go through the top of the roof..). The install of the unit is very similar to the install of any factory "slave" device. You have a +voltage, a ground, +left and right audio, and a Data Class II LAN wire. These input in the rear of the head unit in the "C1" and "C2" harnesses. A wire harness would be very easy to make yourself, all you would need is the connector for the rear of the DVD unit.
