Smoothest ride

As my truck slowly approaches 100k mikes and its first major tune up (going to service everything) I was wondering what shocks and struts will give me the smoothest ride available.

I do 50/50 highway and city driving.

The truck is only a 1500 2wd ext cab 6ft bed with factory size tires.

Right now i'm towing a 12ft popup camper or my parennts 22ft travel trailer (either way max weight if 5k lbs).

Whaich brands and models should I start saving up for?

Give Velvet Ride Shackles a try.

They will lower the rear of your truck slightly, but supposedly do great things for the ride/handling.

lrymal has a set on his rig, I believe.

**Edit**

I guess I could have spelled your name correctly. Sorry 'bout that lrymal :banghead:

Oh yes... the Velvet Ride shackles were the first modification that I did to this truck. It probably still had the "new car smell" when I installed them. A local road that has visible expansion joints for nearly 30 miles (HWY 75) beat me up every time I went on it and I knew that wasn't going to work. The rear bounce was simply awful.

The same road still offers a similar but lesser bounce, but because of the Velvet Ride shackles, the hard edge is no longer there. I simply won't have another truck without these shackles, assuming the design of pickup suspensions is similar in the future.

In the meantime, these appear interesting especially if there is 50% towing done:
