well it seems i have a really creative squirrel in my area. :thumbs::mad: i've seen him a few times running up under the car and jumping up into car somewhere. soon as i pop the hood to see where it is he takes off. i've already found droppings around the intake area of my ta (washed everything out). wife came home the other day and said as she was pulling up she seen a squirrel jump up under the pick up. so what could i use to keep this little F*&* out of my cars? i would love to just :seeya: the thing but he is quick! i was thinking some kind of piosen, but what happens if it dies in there where i can't find it... well at least till it starts smelling :sick:

tried that too :D

 

the car has electric fans though... i still figured it would scare him enough that he wouldn't come back. fired it up and took it to about 5000rpm... with the cut out wide open this thing can be heard from 2 blocks away easily. :mad: i let it warm up to get everything hot in there then moved to a differant area in the driveway. i then popped the hood to look around, nothing. left the hood open and went back in the house for a few minutes. i look out the kitchen window and the little F*** is sitting on top of the battery staring in the window at me! :D:sick::seeya: soon as i open the door to go back out he is gone :thumbs:

 

he's messing with me!!! :cry:

Well,if it generally comes out a certain side more often you could have someone star the truck or pop the hood and wait at that side with your weapon of choice.

 

If it varies,put a shirt or jacket on the ground of the lesser accessable side and wait on the other side because it will most likley run at you and you could have a clear path to swing away at it.

 

If you have a cat it'll also take care of the problem.

oh this is easy:

 

glue a nut (like the kind in your area he might eat) to a rat trap.

 

got the idea when I saw what looked like a MASSIVE rat running around a 400K addition I was delivering in. Was wondering if they set a trap if a

squirrel would take the bait......

:thumbs: I've tried to take em out with a bb gun and all it did was make it do a backflip. d**n critter had no idea what hit em. but a .22 will do nicely. We used to shoot rats at the dump with .22s when we where bored. A guy I know who works construction says a nailgun with 3" spikes works well. If you want to poisen the little furrball try leaving out some radiator fluid . For some reason most rodents are attracted to it. I've pulled more than a few out of the catch trays at my pop's shop. pretty nasty :) hope you nail the little S*** :)

Yeah the antifreeze might work. It's very, very sweet, and most critters will drink every drop you have out...Dogs will do it too...And it kills them.

 

Just don't taste it yourself, it will takes hours for the taste of a couple drops to go away. :thumbs:

LOL it taste really good at first, but that after taste is horrible.

 

If you use that, try to keep it were other animals wont get in it.

      Thanks; I looked there a few minutes, and I think I can find something. I really never looked there, as I thought it was stuff like PTO/aftermarket bodies/accessories like snow plows.

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
