Where is the best place to buy the TranSynd fluid and spin on filter for the Allison trany? Whats the fluid capacity, 13 quarts? Please dont say the dealer....

I'd start in the local yellow pages under "truck" and look for the local heavy truck dealer or service facility who is the Allison distributor. In the Denver area (and around the country) it is Stewart and Stevenson. I paid $9 for the filters and $28 and change for the Transynd.

Not sure about total capacities. Look on the Allison website for all you might ever want to know about the Allison trans lines. Come to think of it, there is a dealer locator on it and can direct you to the place to buy everything to service yours.

thanks....i found one close to me. Looks like $132.50 for the 5 gallon bucket, and $7.39 for the spin on filter. On a side note.....can i borrow $139.89 from anyone?? If you need my paypal info so you can send me the $$ let me know.

Man these are expensive for a fluid and filter change.

You really want sticker shock, ask them what it will cost to flush it with TransSynd. That is why it is still on my ToDo list.. Amsoil makes a "substitute TransSynd" that is cheaper.

Yep it is called Torque-Drive and is a direct replacement for the Allison TES-295 fluid. You can get it for $32.65 a gallon $129 for 4 gallons. Of course that is retail, the preferred customer program knocks that down to $23.65 a gallon and $90 for 4 gallons.

Plus it gets shipped to your door.

Save yourself time and money, just put Mobil 1 AFT in it and be done with it. Transynd is not a pure synthetic anyway and its overpriced.

Actually TranSynd is pure synthetic oil too. I asked an Allison dealer if they could flush with torque drive and they said no only the TranSynd due to some warranty issues. I've also heard of some problems with using other synthetics in them so I'd stick with TranSynd or it's copy TorqueDrive.
