K2500 8.1L Avalanche

I took my wifes van to my local small town dealer to have some service work done on it, and while I was waiting for the rental car I walked aound the lot.  Stuck down by the side of the body shop was a K2500  8.1L  Avalanche with all the cladding ripped off.

I asked my salesman about it and he said he ordered about 6 weeks ago for a customer who wanted all the cladding removed and painted black to match the black exterior.

I looked at the sticker and the price was .  The options were short and to the point.  Leather heated buckets and a power moonroof.  Appearantly everything else was standard.

Believe it or not, it has the identical polished aluminum rims and 245/75/16 tires that are on my HD.  The wheels looked OK but there was not enough meat on the tires to fill the wheel wells.  I'm comparing this to my wifes boss's Z71 Avalanche that has the 17" wheels and huge tires on it.

(my dealer also had a black "North Face" edition, and a red LS model)

You heard it here first at GM-Trucks.com!!!

I wonder that since this truck has a big block if it should be considered an HD?  You can only get the 6.0L in the light duty 3/4 tons.   Hmmm...  Maybe I should have checked the GVW when I was looking it over!!!

Being GM is so happily stuffing the 8100 Vortecs in everything that they can... can someone please stuff an 8100 in a Standard Cab, short bed 1500 so that these Lightings will leave me alone and set their sights on some direct competition.

Or maybe a full-size 1500 Syclone with the AWD running gear from the C3 and the 8100 slightly massaged.  Hmmmmm

#### they don't have to worry about the Camaro anymore which has "monkey stomped" the Mustangs for decades.   Take that fire and determination and focus it on beating the Lightning.

Actually if you are looking for GM's competition for the Ford lightning, do a search for the GMC Inferno, it's a Sierra set up for racing.  It's a new concept and will possibly be released.
