99 GMC drivers door??

Hi all,

Searched the board, on this but couldn't find anything that was the same problem as mine. when I'm driving over 45mph with or without any type of wind, I get this nice wind noise comming into the truck. If i hold onto the to top of the door at the window and pull in just a little bit, it goes away, so either the weather strip is bad(looks fine to me) or the door doesn't close all the way. I put the silicon on it like in other post, but that didn't do anything to help the sound.

If this was on my pass side i can adjust the door and the 3rd door latches, but i dont see anywhere i can adjust the drivers door to make it close just a little bit more/tighter.

Any help would be great.....thanks

:D

i havnt ever done this but ive heard it works...take a stethoscope or plastic tube that you can put in your ear. turn the trucks vents on full and close the truck. with the plastic tube or stethoscope slowly move along all the seems of the door till you hear air coming through. then once you pinpoint it, it will be easy to fix.

Could just be a matter of having to "tweak" the top of the door a little bit. I used to have to do this to brand new Cadillacs when I was a PDI tech many, many years ago. Basically, roll the window down and apply light pressure to the top of the door to try and bring it in a smidge....don't push or pry too hard or you may hear snap crackle pop, and I'm not talkin Rice Krispies.

Honestly, I'd try to see if I could loosen the door striker first to try and bring that in, and make sure that what you're hearing isn't actually coming from the window run or side view mirror. Wind noises always suck...they go in the file with water leaks, squeaks and rattles. Good Luck!
