pawpaw Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 Caught a glimpse of a Cadillac Escalade EXT on a transporter today here in the St Louis area. The lower cladding was black - just like the rest of the vehicle. I wonder how much more it cost than an Avalanche? :0
chevy4x4trucks Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 The base price for an EXT is 49 something, so it's over 10 grand more. But, it's also all wheel drive and has a 6.0 and I'm sure a lot more of those caddy features.
DocToss Posted December 14, 2001 Posted December 14, 2001 Looked at one at the dealer today. I own an Avalanche, and the EXt does indeed have more luxury features, but not for $20,000 more. I hope some of the ext features can be added to the avalanche like the driver info computer. I just added the steering wheel controls myself and am waiting for Jason to evaluate the backup sensor kit. Poor man's caddy. Tom
Sunset Z-71 Posted December 14, 2001 Author Posted December 14, 2001 I have driven one lareayd my local chevy dealer is also a caddy dealer and it has some more power to it but i sticker on my av was 37,600 or so and i cannost see paying 52,000 for the cad. i mean to me it was nice but not $14,000 nicer. anyhow wish caddy good luck with it it is nice but just not for me. I would need the 4x4 when i go off road etc.. and i dont like the all wheel drive. the 6.0 is nice but i think the 5.3 can put out just as much with a few mods later Dave
GreenRado Posted December 14, 2001 Posted December 14, 2001 Lucky coincidence, but I was @ a Olds/Caddy dealer last night picking up the Wife's Alero for warranty work, and saw 3 in the lot. 2 blacks and 1 white (couldn't be sure about the white w/ the mercury lites). The sticker totals were ~ $52,500 - incl. $2,500 in options (glass sunroof, and something else)and dealer prep. The 6.0 has 345 hp in this config. Also noticed the "cladding" paint matches the rest of the body. Pretty sharp, but steep price! Would seem hard to justify that extra cost over the Av, unless there are some really expensive goodies in there. The General must make quite a profit margin on these!
tgt Posted December 15, 2001 Posted December 15, 2001 Nice forum you got here fellas. I always wanted an AV until I saw them in person, I love the funcionality but the cladding is not my taste. Then I came upon the EXT....WOW. Totally love everything about it. Some day I'll have one, but I'll give them a couple of years to come down in price and get one used. ;) I'm not up for paying 50k for a vehicle. ??? -Travis
