OK, I changed it....It's been changed.

I once changed one kind of like it before...Back in the first gulf war.

Everyone should use caution when doing this, sadly, a lot of good men have been lost in this mundane task.

I'll be PMing Mervz in order to start a forum section for only this topic, so we can be a little more specific on bulb swapping techniques and simulations.

For the time being, this topic needs to be moved to the Audio/Electronics forums, as that's the closest thing we have.

The original poster really needs to work on his capitalization and punctuation skills, and we won't even get into all the caps that asilverblazer used...That's just bad form.

I'm such a bastard for calling peeple out on the're speeling, and teh lack of speel chequers being utilized on these bords.

I'm such a bastard for calling people out on their spelling, and the lack of spell checkers being utilized on these boards.

Some may call it a light bulb, and others refer to it at lightbulb. Very few will actually hyphenate it to light-bulb. Personally I prefer light blub. It just rolls off of the tongue better.

A few rogues will actually try and get people to call it a lamp.

I'm one of them. When I was a contractor for GE, we went through much of the english language, all of the dialects of the Japanese (yes, even including Madagascarian), and some latin to come up with the proper verbiage for referencing light emitting mono-filament incandescent type devices. After years of targeted market research, we took a vote, and went with Edisons original term. Lamp.

But these are all points about something that really isn't pertinent to the normal discussions here on GM-Trucks.com, and really is a topic that should be moved over to the forums at Bulbcollector.com, as they are the authorities on these matters.

However, most of us live in domiciles that use these devices, and can all be really considered as amateurs in the field, so we should keep this topic here.

Changing light bulbs is a risky ordeal to say the least, and should not be attemped by the faint of heart. Especially if one has a fear of heights. There are those that have overcome this by hiring out illegal immigrants to do it for them. This in in conflict with the labor laws of the Estados Unidos, and is an issue that needs to be addressed within congress before getting out of control. Others have overcome the inherent dangers of falling while changing bulbs by having them installed in the floors, vice the overhead. This creates other problem due to the fact that the bat-people that live in some regions of the world are now more inclined to move from the forests, and hide in dark overhead corners of peoples hallways, and eat the family pets. Lights in the floor are a dangerous option that should be weighed carefully before going with them. Stay away from LG bulbs, they are in inferior product, and have even been found to detonate with the explosive force of a rhino after too many protein shakes. GE is the BEST! STAY AWAY FROM THE REST!

Personally, I prefer this method of lamp replacement. (Although the local OSHA rep blows a gasket every time he sees it).

Here are some places you can go to get information about light bulbs.

History of the light bulb.

This place has a ton of bulbs for sale: Bulbs.com

OK, here are the real links, I couldn't get them right the first time.

History of the light bulb.

Bulbs.com

This explains alot, a lot, many things.

  :loser: WHATEVER, WHAT EVER...

You said it brother :tear: Explains a lot to me too.

I know we've seen that one around here before, but rather true in a number of forums

No kidding man. I agree.

After the way this topic was handled, I'm not sure that I'm going to ever post on this topic again. You see, it hits a little close to home. As I said above, I worked as a contractor for GE in the incandescent lamp division, and with the advent of lower cost, more efficient fluorescent lamps (or bulbs, I'm no expert on their terminology)....I was let go because the kids in Malaysia needed the money more than I did.

Oh, and by the way poster...We have been through this before.

Personally I prefer light blub. It just rolls off of the tongue better.

What in the hell is a light blub? I suppose it's better than a heavy blub :tear:

"Light blub" is just a lot funner to say.

Kind of like "ablum", instead of "album"...Or like "buttmuppet" instead of "professor".

Some things just roll of the tongue a little better.

And yeah...To say that I was really, really bored that night is quite the understatement. :flag:
