Kania2k1 Posted September 8, 2001 Posted September 8, 2001 Driving back from the store tonight and the "Check Engine Oil Level" light comes on. Check the oil when I get home and the oil is down to the bottm hole. WTF Where did it all go???? Changed it at 12,000, and it's almost to 15,000. Actually it's at 14,450. Why would it lose oil like this? Haven't seen any drips on the driveway or at school. Any ideas guys? Thanks for the help.
DigUout Posted September 8, 2001 Posted September 8, 2001 I know you said you haven't seen any drips, but I'd still check the oil plug and make sure it was properly screwed back in. Makes no sense for 4 quarts of oil to disappear in 2450 miles, especially of you're just going to work, school and home. You're still under warranty just in case, right?
Shaners Posted September 8, 2001 Posted September 8, 2001 Like DigUout said: Your still under waranty, right? Sounds like this should be documented at the dealer. If it were to be burning oil at that rate, I'd think you'd see the smoke and be able to smell it. I have no idea where it went, but that is alot of oil and it is not "normal". You'd better keep a close eye on it...
Kania2k1 Posted September 8, 2001 Author Posted September 8, 2001 I have noticed a lifter tick whenever I accelerate hard, mostly full throttle. I'm gonna make an appointment at the dealership on Monday.
