I have always changed them around 50k simply for the peace of mind and the fact that they are a pain to get out if they have been in there for 100k.

For poops and giggles you can remove the plugs and inspect them. They may look pretty good, but I'll bet that the gaps are all out of whack. When I changed mine, my gaps ranged from .045 to.065. Then if you want, you can set the gaps (I believe it's .060), coat the threads with anti-sieze, and re-install the plugs with the piece of mind that they're good and they won't be siezed in there when it comes time to change them. :nono:

Yep, you can switch to synthetic any time, budhayes3 hit it right, doing that you shouldn't have any problems pulling them back out when they are due for a change. :nono:

Cool, ill switch to synthetic then. Ill just inspect the plugs for now. I also want to do a seafoam cleaning because im not sure of the previous owners driving habits.

If you do a Sea Foam cleaning in the fuel, then make sure you change your oil within 500 miles of running it. It is a strong solvent and will make it's way into the oil. So the best thing would be to run it in the fuel and then change your oil and filter.

With that low of millage I strongly suggest you don't do the Seafoam cleaning, just run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through, go ahead and change the plugs and fuel filter as well. I switched to Synthetic on my truck at 87,000 miles and no problems.

I feel that it's OK to do the Seafoam at 44k, actually every 12 to 15k, especially with the NBS trucks and the known oil consumption problems through the PCV system. You'll be surprised how quickly the induction system and combustion chambers get carboned up on these things.

We used to do BG induction services every year or 12k when I was a tech at the dealer (Toyota), and those cars didn't have nearly the carbon issues that the LSx style engines have.

For what it's worth, I do some form of induction service, whether it be BG, GM Top End, or Seafoam, about every year to year and a half. I also travel a short distance to work, which will create more carbon, since I spend alot of the ride in cold enrichment mode and do alot of stop and go. I make sure to try and get a highway run in at least once a week to "blow it out".

Since your vehicle is almost 5 vears old and has such low mileage, I would assume that you or the previous owner also travels short distances, and would definitely benefit from a little Seafoam. Clean the throttle body while you're in there also, I'm sure it has a nice coating of the black stuff too.

Just my .02

Does anyone have any opinions about the Bosch +4 Platinum spark plugs? 4 tips with no gapping. I've used them before in my '98 S-10 with no problems. Anyone use them in a V-8?

I put the Bosch +4 Platinum in my 99 Grand An GT and it did not like them at all, it ran better with the old factory plugs and three of them were missing the little platinum tip of the electrode. I hear the gm has an Iridium plug now.

Do a search on EBay for part number 41-985 about $25 for 8, or go to the AC Delco page:flag:
