Just wondering......has anyone out there heard of a tie in/splice to use your cell phone through the Onstar system?

If not, does anyone have a friend or is and electronic genius?!?!?!?

what type of onstar system do you have? analog, analog/digital3 ready, or analog/digital. Is your cell phone digital or analog? If you live in the north east and have Verizon wireless with a digital ready Onstar you can share your plan with your cell phone and truck for $10.00 extra a month. You will have 2 different phone number though.

Best bet is getting a vehicle with bluetooth and a cell phone with bluetooth

I have Alltel right now.....and am looking to change. I'll have to check down here to see if that is available.

How do you tell which Onstar I have? I have an '01 Chevy 2500HD.

If I am understanding you correctly, I purchase an Onstar plan (which has minutes already on it) and pay an additional $10 to have the Verizon shared. But do you keep the same minutes with Onstar or do you share the Verizon minutes through Onstar in the vehicle (if you were to go over the OnStar minutes)?

What is bluetooth? Haven't heard of it.........out of the loop I guess!

Thanks!

I understand my 03 has an analog/digital ready (upgradable) but it can't use Verizon yet.

2001 I'm sure will have the analog Onstar system. Upgrades are not available yet to go digital or pricing.

With the share plan you use all the minutes from your cellular phone plan.

Bluetooth products are every where, from cars to computers. http://www.bluetooth.com/products/index.asp

what is does

you use your bluetooth phone and you program it to your vehicle so you can use the vehicle to make calls, instead of using the cell phone. It's just like a hands free system but better.

I contacted OnStar yesterday and from what I understand, this deal with Verizon is only available on '04 and up. Just a FYI for anyone on this discussion an interested. :seeya:

And not ALL 2004's, just those that already have the new digital AMP. My 2004 'Burb doesnt have the right one, and GM is not planning on making upgrade packages for 2 to 3 years according to the ONSTAR rep I talked to, who, for once, seemed to have a clue.

Pity cause I already have Verizon.

You found out more than me as when I ask I get the standard "canned" answer that you'll be notified when available and it will be before the 2007 cutoff date.
