2005 Chevy 2500HD

The other day I was checking out GMC's web site and was building my own 2500HD just to see what it would cost. Well, to compare the same truck in Chevrolet I went to their site. Upon configuring a Chevy 2500HD it did not have a 8.1 engine option. You can only have 6.0 or the Duramax. Did Chevy drop the 8.1 from the 2005 line?

I notice that it doesn't show up when building a 2500HD on gmbuypower, but the Chevy website says it's available. It took a while, but I did find a 2005 2500HD extended cab LS with an 8100 in dealer stock on gmbuypower. MSRP price point is about $39.9K.

What do you guys think of the front ends?? Im glad that they made the 1500 and the HD trucks somewhat distinguishable at the front end for 2005! I never did like how they did away with the nice tall HD hood on the 99-02 trucks. The HD hood looked awesome.

I agree the new HD's look really good. The new front end really sets them apart from the 1500s.

Word on the street is GM will be dropping the 8.1 in favor of a more efficient V-10.

Yeah a V-10 is on the way, and so long the big block, but i wished they kept it, it still has enough power to go along.

I wish the would have kept the big block. It was nice seeing a Chevy V8 beat Ford and Dodge's V10s.
