NAV install question

I just bought a 04 Yukon Denali with the Y91 opt, and want to add navigation. I'm not sure if I bought the right unit... Does anyone know if the 05 touch screen (part # 10377287) will work with my truck? Or should I have bought part# 10377531? Any info, or help or the new guy would be awesome.

I posted another (NON-Lux) number on another board but search wouldn't find it.

This one worked only Y91, the other (That I Had), ONLY NON-Lux.

That sucks, gmpartsdirect.com did have it listed as lux or non-lux. So then only the lux model (10377531) will work for my denali?

Hey Sperry, i dont want to confuse anyone, but i think you can revert the system back to "NON-LUX" by doing the opposite of what we did. Pop in a "NON-LUX" BOSE AMP, and do the simple wire change, then the "NON-LUX" radio (theoretically) should work. Thus he could use the radio he bought. I have an extra "non-bose" AMP if he wants to try.

It would but that amp would be an insult to a Denali!

Nav units won't configure like the other radios do by techline either.

It's unfortunate, but from what I heard, GM-PD won't take a return or exg it!

The saving grace is the NON Lux is in high demand.

but then I will lose the sound quality right? I saw in another post where someone put this same setup in a 04 H2 and it worked fine (10377287 with Y91). Then again someone else posted this setup on a 04 Sierra Denali and it did not work. (same 10377287 with Y91) That’s where I’m getting confused, and second guessing my buy. Is there a chance that this will work, or was one of these guys mistaken about there part numbers? The dealer tells me that my VIN is non NAV, and that they can’t help me.

The early 04 H2's had the Y91 amp. Mid year they made a change to the crap amp.

There isn't always a set pattern, so beware!

Now, to be certain of what you have, have a dealer connect the Tech2 and try to communicate with the amp. If one has the crap amp, it won't find it. The Luxury/Y91 amp will show.

yeah, there will definately be a sound differnece.... Also, one of the first things i did when getting into this was to walk the lot and copy the VIN number off of a Denali that had the NAV in it. That way the dealer will not sneer at you when you give him your VIN.

Nav or not, it should have the Y91 amp. Talk them into hooking up the tech 2 and try to communicate with the amp. If it see's it, you need the 10377531 TNR.

Hopefully, you can sell the other one easily.

My brother has a 04 Yukon Denali that he is thinking of swaping out the Nav system on for a custom stero system. I was wondering if it is possible to make this radio fit in my 2002 2500HD? I would wire the speaker outputs to the High level inputs on my aftermaret amp. Would this work? Also it looks like his radio might be a 2 din where as the 02 had a din and 1/2 can I make it fit?

Or woud I be nuts to try this...

After you get past the fit hassle, 02's classII DATA apparently is a different format. When you match the HU and amp, they'll comm with each other, however the other accessories won't, including the VIN check from the BCM. No OnStar, No other op will talk to it.

Edit:

The vehicle's other DATA packets could also interfere and Vice Versa. So it would have to be isolated and pre-programmed. And then there's the theftlock hassle with that vin check on startup..

I hate when that happens!
