Body lift, new wheels-tires and Warranty?

I put some 16X8 wheels and 285's last week and they rubbed really bad on my truck. I didnt want to mess with the torsion bars because I didnt want to increase the wear on the front end and end up costing a lot of money down the road. The lift went on fine, but when I went to drive it there about a mile into the drive the front end started shaking noticably. I pulled into the gas station and could see any problems, so I pulled back out and drove home no problems. What could this be? I thought maybe it was one of the wheels not being on good so I tightened them all down, and there were a couple of loose lugs but nothing major. So I drove it again, and nothings happened til I got up to about 50 then there was a slight shake. I noticed about a week before I put the new wheels on that the brakes were start to sqeak just a bit and it has gotten worse. Could this shaking be from the breaks, and if so will the dealership recognize my warranty? What else could be causing this? Thanks

As far as the warrenty goes, even if the dealer notices the lift, they will have to prove the damage was caused by it. So if like something happened to your trans, that shouldn't be voided by the lift. But if something happened with your suspension, they would probably void your warrenty for that.

I would normally say that it could be the drive shaft vibrating, but it's a body lift right? That's weird. Are you sure all your wheels and tires are in balance? Maybe you threw a weight somewhere. That's where I would start looking though. Get em balanced again or take them back to the place that mounted them tell em your problem and that you want them re-balanced. Make sure it's a road force balance and see if it still vibrates. start with the easy solution and work your way to the hard ones. I'm no expert, but I don't know how a body lift could cause shaking.....you sure all the bolts are tight....maybe at 50 the wind make it shake????

I started thinking that too, about the weight, but wouldnt do it everytime I drove it. I will be sure to check it out though. thanks

When I went with custom wheels on my first Silverado I had the same problem. I am almost 100% sure it is a balancing problem. After many attempts on balancing my tires I finally shipped my wheels back to KMC for two new ones on the front. This helped considerably. Come to find out that aftermarket wheels (especially cast aluminum) are usually lopsided. Sometimes you get lucky but usually it takes alot of counter weights and a good tech to get these wheels forced balanced. I would try that route first. I doubt the body lift had any affect on these vibrations. That is another reason the factory wheels are so expensive, they are forged and they are just more balanced from the factory. I am not a guru on wheels but I did learn from experience. Just to prove that it was the wheels, when they sent my first two back to the factory for exchange, I put my OEM wheels and tires back on and it rode like a dream. I even had the tires mounted back on the OEM wheels!
