A/C Filter

When I had my '99 Silverado, it had a filter for the air in the passenger compartment. I had it changed a couple of times. Now I have an '04 and can't find anything about it in the owner's manuel. Did GM "value engineer" it out (like the lights in the glove box, under the hood and courtesy lights at the kick panels), or did they just forget to mention it?

Yea, unfortunately the 04's no longer have the cabin filter. I don't understand why? Must not be cost-effective enough...they probably only sell half a million filters a year, not the million that they projected. Everyone who I talk to who has one absolutely loves it!

Wonder what year trucks they put those in? We have several late 80s and early 90s trucks in our fleet service and those have no filters.

It is a total bummer that they removed them. My 02 has the filter, and I absolutely love it.

If I have the windows down and at a stoplight next to a diesel, I roll up, turn it on to setting five, and within about 20 seconds the diesel odor is completely gone from inside.

If I have to replace in a few years, I dread not having it. ULTRA short sighted of GM to have taken this feature out.

I heard that the dual zone heat system in the 03-04 is different and a filter wouldn't work. Of course it probubly is economics. They also lost the under hood light, ashtray light, and glove box lights.

By the way how do I access the spell check on these reply posts?
