Kgry Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 It got reallll cold this morning in Chicago and I go to start my 04. Starts right up but after the idles goes down, I hear a few intermitant noises. Kinda like a squeek. The noises go away after driving a few seconds. Just wondering what (if any) noises you guys have when it's cold?
Shaners Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I just have the typical rattle/knock that GM is famous for when the motor is started cold. The squeek may be coming from the belt, or depending on what you have your climate control set to, it may be coming from it.
mcreyaufmiller Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Most of my engine noises have gone away since I began using Mobile 1. 130k, and runs great!
Raydon Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I have a squeek in my steering wheel when it's cold in the cab. When I turn the wheel it sounds like rubbing squeeking.
budhayes3 Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I used to have a cold squeak that sounded like a belt but was actually the upper serp belt adjuster pulley. I got that taken care of under warranty. Besides that, just the "normal" piston slap, etc.
sxmax Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Bud hayes, That's what that noise is. I guess I need mine replaced too. I noticed the paint was only wearing off in certain places, like the pulley was hanging up. Guess I should replace the belt too. I get some weird noises from my exhaust too when its cold. That is about to change though.
