New truck fogged headlights

Recommended Posts

I just bought the truck today and got home around 7PM and noticed that along the bottom of every light lense on the front, is a very light fog/moisture. It is not enough to completely fog them up or even make the water run, it is just a faint fog. Anyone else had this problem, and is this a warranty issue I should pursue??

Its a 2005 GMC sierra Crew Z71 1500.

Welcome to the Forum :seeya:

The "FOG" should dissipate when the lights are on and get hot enough to burn or dry it up....Have you noticed any difference after the lights have been ON for about 10-15min.?

The fog/moisture is normal for any non sealed beam headlight assembly. In hot or very dry conditions this should disappear. The bottom of the housing should have a small hole and a drain if more water appears.

What I would look for is if the "chrome" relfector starts to tarnish and look gold or oxidized, then It should be repleplaced. It looks bad for one, but that means the assembly has a defect. I have seen the light bulbs used in cars and they will explode if a drop of water gets on them, and hundreds of small pieces of glass can go everywhere.

Does anyone know the correct P/N for a fog lamp housing (left side) for a 2000 GMC Yukon? I put in the sylvania 893 bulb (instead of the 880 that it came with) and it melted part of the inner housing. So, I need to replace it.

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with these new Sylvania Silverstar fog lamps that are supposed to be coming out in April?
