Speedometer not working

I've got an '04 2500HD Dmax and recently the speedometer and other gauges on the instrument cluster stopped working properly. Can this be fixed by simply replacing the instrument or checking the wiring, or is this indicative of a larger problem?

It's a good possibillity that it is computer related. Is the truck stock?

There's a fuse for the IP - did you check that? I can't imagine why the fuse would blow (ok, besides the fact too much current went through it). In any event, assuming you didn't do any mods to the dash or anything electrically related to the IP, just take it to the dealer. Let them figure it out. Maybe it's just a defective IP unit - or the connector's not fully seated on the back of the housing.
