8.1 Throttle reponse

I have a 2001 GMC with the 8.1 liter. I thought it was just me but I notice a slight hesitation or dead spot in the throttle when accelerating from a stop. Is this the nature of the beast or is there a fix for it? thanks...

I had the same problem with my 2001, but I

got use to it. I put a Wester's 93 tune in and

now it will break your neck!!

Call Lyndon at Wester's, if you don't mind

spending a little money he can make the 8.1

come alive!!

im experienceing the same thing, today i was behind 3 cars, that was going very slow i was doing 50, i start to go around and the truck goes to 3 rpm and then 4 1/2 rpm(redline) i had to back off and get back in my lane, i think the 8.1 is just to slow myself, IM DIEHARD CHEVY TO, also, i smelled a really stink coming thro my air cond. Cant be good........

Will westers solve my problem???

Curently have the Hypertech, which is now 4 sale!

To be honest, i can not remeber what my truck was like before I had Lyndon do my PCM. I know now that i am EXTREMELY happy with the performance of my 496. The only Mods i have are the Westers PCM and a full VAR-A-RAM induction system. I am going to try and get to the Dyno sometime soon to see what my numbers are, but i can tell you i definately have NO lag spots in my RMP range. I feel that the PCM helped considerably with my LOW range (torque and off the line) performance....and the VAR-A-RAM made a "night and day" difference in my mid to upper RPM performance. I have NO problems passing at speeds of 50-80 MPH.

Wester's can solve your problem. My only mod are

a K&K drop in and dual exhaust. It's like a different

truck with the Wester's.

Try it, you'll like it!!

I had the Hypertech too.

Westers is the way to go for sure! You will be impressed with the difference over a Hypertech! My 6.0L pulls like crazy now and runs great with the Westers Tune! I only have the Westers, no other performance mods and what a difference...

I also have a 2004, with the 8.1 What Westers would be best, without any other mods except a drop in K&N filter. Also, what is the process for the installation? Thanks.

I have a LS1 edit for mine. It has a extra page of torque management limits that the 6.0 don't have so a good tune will help allot. I had problems with computer cutting off 4 cyl when I stomp it from a dead stop after the cam it would back fire from it. A good tune would have cured all this but my edit showed up two days after I popped the engine. d**n :wtf:
