I need to change my oil and wanted to know the part # for an AC Delco filter? I have the 1500, 5.3L.

I also just ordered my K&N FIPK which just became available.

The part is #57-3033. Retail $350 (ouch!), My truck parts friend got it wholesale for $280.

We did a Torsion lift and hardly gained any lift at all. I will probably be purchasing a 3" lift that FabTech is selling to my truck for $900. I just want the thing to sit level! I was also reading about the "Lean" to the drivers side (because we are all fat bastards?) can be corrected?

Love to hear some fixes for the lean.

Keep postin!

I imagine the filter is the same as the silverado.  So it should be PF-59 (check your manual to be certain)

As for the lean on the drivers side dont forget the gas tank is on that side which adds weight when full

I cranked my torsion bar 4 full turns to get the "lean" out of my truck.  The frame is actually very close to level.  However the body doesn't sit on the frame exactly plumb...

If you click on "guides" under features in the left column of your screen you will find the documentation from when I installed the FIPK in my 1500 Silverado this spring.  The install in the AV should be very similar.

Hey Chevy a go go

Most GM trucks have a front that sits a little lower in the front, giving it a rakish look.  Alot of people don't care for it, and crank up the front torsion bars to get the front up to level with the back.  I don't mind the look, so just leave it as is.

Some people are noticing that thier truck doesn't sit level side to side.  I think it is in the area of 1/2 - 1 inch in difference, and I can see where that could bother you.  I don't know mauch about this problem, my Avalanche is dead level side to side, so I am not really sure about that particular problem.  It would be good however to keep in mind when out shopping, and a quick front on / end on look will ensure the truck is sitting level.  Then ya don't got ta worry!!

Hope this answers the questions for you, welcome and enjoy the board, a great bunch of people.

Thanks for the insight. I am currently scheduled to pick up my Avalanche Wednesday evening. I have forwarded some of this information to my sales guy and asked him to have the mechanics level it and realign it BEFORE I pick it up.

By the way, anyone have any trouble with the Av leaking at the midgate?

Only when the midgate isn't shut all the way properly!! :)

Seriously.  After we hauled all that pea gravel (see pic-post), it was time to give it a serious scrubbing.  That "Pro-Tec" material of GMs gets dirt wedged real good in its rough surface and takes some good arm muscle to get rid of it.

As best as we tried to contain the gravel from getting underneat the bed mat, clogging the water drainage system, and wedged in the midgate gaskets, some little rocks did manage to get where I couldn't get them out.  The solution was to lower the midgate, and sweep them out from the inside.  We vacuumed up the remaining chips that "fell" into the interior.  Then, back up went the midgate (or so we thought) and I started hosing the front of the bed down.  Whoops!  Midgate not latched all the way, and water leaking in.

Not much spray got in before I realized it, but do be sure to give it a good slam.  I've noticed it's especially hard to close when the top covers are on and the tailgate is closed.  It's usually easier to open the tailgate, shut the midgate, and then shut the tailgate.  This time, the tailgate was down and the covers were off, but we just didn't push the midgate hard enough.

When used properly, I haven't had a problem with water inside at all.

Chevy A Go Go,

My Av seemed all right too until I towed a boat. After that, there was a noticable lean to the front left. I took it in and the adjusted the torsion bars in the front. That correction messed up my alignment though. So, when and if you have to have yours done, make sure they check the alignment right away. Everything's fine now. I have 7,000 miles now and am impressed with the lack of problems, considering its a first year model.
