Interior Question

I have an '02 1500HD, in the headliner just above the driver seat there is a small round plastic grill (if you call it that) and just the other day it fell off. Thats not that big-a-deal, looks like it was just glued on, but my question is what the hell is in the headliner right there? All this time I thought it had something to do with the OnStar, and maybe it does, but I noticed it makes a slight buzzing sound. Anyone got a clue what this is?

Thanks for the help.

That makes sense, the climate control idea. Just dont know why its buzzing, maybe vibrating although I can touch the part inside the headliner (since the grill cover thingy fell off) and it does not stop buzzing but does change tone. Maybe there is some type of intake fan or something?

My understanding is that it is part of the climate control system and there is a fan inside. If you turn off the engine, radio etc and listen closely, you can hear the fan. It takes in air to check the temp. If it fell off, Im surprised you did not see the fan.

Yes it does have a fan in there. Mine was also buzzing periodically when the truck was new. I flicked it a few times and it would quit making noise. It's for the HVAC system though. It sure would be a great place for an on star speaker.
