New Wheels too Wide?

I just received some 17x10 wheels for my 1999 Z71. It currently has stock rims and tires on it. I would like to put the 17x10 wheels on and get new tires without lifting the truck. Do they make an offroad tire that will be wide enough and short enough for my application without rubbing? How wide do the tires have to be to use the 10" wide rim?

in ny, i hear that the bigger the rim the smaller the tire in height. so if u had stock at 265/70/16 then u would 265/60/16. the 70 would make the tire taller. the 60 would make the tire a lil lower. my cousin has a tahoe 99 and want to put mickey thompson on the truck. because the tire for off road is taller he would have to keep the stock size rim. 16 rim but wider.

Nope,

Your going to rub with tens. No matter what your offset is. First of all I would not recomend running 265's on ten inch deep wheels. They are rated for 8 inch, max. BFG makes the AT in a 285/70R17. That is a pretty tall and wide tire. Personally I run 285/75R16's with 8 inch deep wheels on my HD. I had to do some trimming on the lower valance and move the fender splash gaurds with zip ties. I also cranked the T-bars up 1-1/2 inches. They bareley clear. With tens, no way. The HD' have a little more clearance than a half ton also. I would go no wider than 8 inch wheels and no taller than 285/70 without a lift. With those tens, you might as well lift it and run 315/70R17's. That would look good.
