Bedrail Reinforcement?

Recommended Posts

I want to mount an over rail toolbox on my 2004 1500. I read in here somewhere that these trucks have relatively weak bedrails. What have you guys down to reinforce them. I would hate to kneel on the box while washing my roof, and end up buckling something. Help.

I haven't had any problem with mine. It weighs as much as three to four hundred pounds at times. I stand on it when I was that's another 180 lbs.

I think the problem arises more frequently with lumber and utility racks. Such as when the weight is at the box posts.

Mine kinked the bed rails, I put a tonna on and it covers up the dents but it was pretty noticable. It really sucked because I hated the way it looked, now I have new toolbox sitting in my shed and dented new truck. If it matters its a delta box with full lid, never sat on it or leaned on it, did slam the lid at the track one night...maybe that did it??
