2000 Silverado and needs brakes. Any recommendations for pad replacments? Having never done this job on the truck do you have to remove the calipers or can you you leave them attached and remove the pads? How about the rears, anything special about this job? thanks in advance.

What year and model??

Yes you have to pull the caliper to remove the pads. YUou should also clean and re-grease the caliper slides...VERY importsnt.

As for pads, I am a fan of Raybestos for regular replacement. If you want a good brake upgrade, consider Praise Dyno . I am a huge fan of their products and I am on my second set on my Tahoe (135K).
