Three more newbie questions

I searched the archives and just ordered my Helm manual, but I hope someone can help me out on these in the meantime:

1) I bought a new fuel filter and looked around for it under the truck, but I can't find it! I see the lines coming from above the tank. Is it there or am I way off? I hope I don't have to drop the tank.

2) I just installed a trailer hitch receiver (Draw-tite from dealer) and noticed a wiring harness stuck in the left side frame rail. It is an odd round connector I have never seen before. I've seen on new trucks with a hitch, a box to the left of the receiver hole where the trailer harness would plug in. How do I plug in? Is this box/harness a GM part or something I could pick up at a local parts store? I've seen kits to splice into the truck wiring harness, but I'm guessing I don't need that because I have this harness already.

3) I purchased a new cabin air filter and checked the writeup in the tech forums here. For some reason, once I remove the cover, I can't find the screw they are referring to in order to access the filter. The article also mentions two filters, so do I need to buy a second one? And are they the same?

I could be of NO help, but let me try. IF the fuel filter is in the same spot as the 2001 it is on the drivers side about mid way on the truck... About where the 2 doors meet, next to the ABS Module. BUT for some reason I remember someone saying they sank it into the tank on newer models? Am I wrong?

Cabin filter. For some reason, i don't think you have one... I thought they did away with this by 2004.

For the hitch, if it is the same round one I am thing of (standard on most trucks/ suv's) they make mounts you can attach to the hitch to hold it. And also adaptors if your trailer has the 4 pin flat plug vs the round 6 or 7 pin style. Even walmart caries some of this stuff.

-does it look like THIS would plug into it?

I already looked near the ABS module and there is no filter. I guess I'll wait for the Helm book.

Interesting, I looked through the Purolator book in Auto Zone and the filter I bought is listed for my truck.

Yep, that plug is what mine would plug into. Thanks. I will look for one of the bracjets and mount it.

No fuel filter on the 4.8. Only the L59 flex fuel 5.3L still has the fuel filter. No in cabin air filter. 2002 was the last year for that.

Yep,You have no fuel filter or cabin air filter for your '04,Only the flex-fuel trucks (and diesels) have a filter now.

As far as the plug goes I think what you need is part number 12191503,this is the receptacle with the door (or as you said the box to the left of the receiver hole) that you see on trucks with the factory trailer pkg. that plug you described should have a little cap on it (to keep dirt/water out) that you remove to plug the receptacle in.

No fuel filter!? That is crazy. Doesn't that mean the injectors will clog up easily? I've seen a lot of clogged fuel filters on other vehicles in the past. Now I'm thinking I should buy an aftermarket filter and install it.

The filter is in tank. They got rid of the external fuel filter for emissions reasons.
